Yoga Therapy and Private Yoga Classes at Physio Body and Sole combine specific biomedical knowledge with traditional yoga principles with years of combined clinical and personal experience in physiotherapy and yoga.
What to expect
In a personal consultation with a Yoga Therapist we will discuss what you would like to achieve from your program. The goals of Yoga Therapy or a private yoga class can range from reducing chronic back pain to improving your golf swing! A personalised practice can be as long or short as fits your life. The practice is created with you, to be beneficial and suited to your body to achieve your personal goals. It improves posture and balance, breathing, reduces stress and creates a sense of well being.
In your initial Yoga Therapy consultation we will do a body chart and discuss the history and management of your condition as well as describing your lifestyle and well being. A physical assessment covers your breathing, posture, flexibility, strength and balance. In particular we are interested in any asymmetries, weakness, tension and twists or adaptations the body has made.
In the first session the Yoga Therapist will commence with some simple practices; usually starting with breathing, body awareness and everyday movements, along with other tools of yoga such as relaxation and meditation. A personalised practice is created with you to be beneficial and suited to your body and lifestyle.
Typically a minimum of 2 follow up sessions ensure that you learn your practice well and progress. These are usually a week to two weeks apart.
Yoga Therapy helps a person learn simple but life-changing tools that provide noticeable change to your state of mind and body, giving more awareness and control of flexibility, pain, posture and enhances recovery from injury and performance in everyday and sporting activities.
Our Yoga Therapists here at Physio Body and Sole are unique in that they are physiotherapists in addition to being Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists.
